摘要

Obesity is a neglected public health problem, and the number of adults who are overweight or obese has continued to increase. Obesity increases the risk of illness and is associated with increases in deaths from all causes. Earlier onset of obesity-related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, is being reported in adults and adolescents with obesity. The economic and personal health costs of overweight and obesity are enormous and compromise the health of the United States. Interventions for obesity should address lifestyle, nutrition, physical activity, and access to facilities designed to promote health.
