This paper deals with the comparison of new signal processingntools for power quality analysis. Three new signal processing techniquesnare considered: the continuous wavelet transform, the multiresolutionnanalysis and the quadratic transform. Their theoretical behaviours areninvestigated using the basic theory of the Fourier transform. Then,nexamples of the four most frequent disturbances met in the power systemnare chosen. Finally, each kind of electrical disturbance is analyzednwith example representing each tool. A qualitative comparison of resultsnshows the advantages and drawbacks of each new signal processingntechnique applied to voltage disturbance analysis. The continuousnwavelet transform appears to be a reliable method for detecting andnmeasuring voltage sags, flicker and transients in power quality analysis
