摘要

A model for metal-oxide surge arresters, derived from that onenrecommended from the IEEE W.G. 3.4.11, is presented. The main innovationnintroduced by the paper lies in the simplicity of the criteria proposednfor the model's parameter identification. Such criteria allowncalculation of the model parameters directly from the standard datanreported in the arrester data-sheets with a simple and straightforwardnprocedure. The effectiveness of the model was tested for severalnarresters of different manufacturer both for medium voltage and for highnvoltage application. The discharge test results obtained by thenmanufacturers were compared with the results of simulations performednwith the Alternative Transient Program (ATP). Effectiveness andnsimplicity of use make the proposed model a useful tool for insulationncoordination studies involving steep front transients
