摘要

The design of a hydraulic structure requires a large volume of routine work of graphical type (for example, the longitudinal profile) and calculations (flank stability and so on). A problem remains over infiltration calculations. The GGS computer-aided design system has been developed by collaboration between our two organizations in Kharkov, the Ukraine, to computerize all stages in the design of earth-based hydraulic structures (dams, canals, and pipelines) involved with structures at reservoirs, various forms of stores, tailings ponds, and so on, and it provides output of 100% of the design documentation as hard copies from the calculations together with drawings. The task is handled in the Autocad 10 environment with a personal computer (class not below PC/AT 386). The designing is done directly by the design engineer in interactive mode.
