For some time now, practical demands dictated by prospects for incresed use of convoluted liquid and gas flows have burdened scientists with the problem of the scientific analysis of this rather complex phenomenon. Several independent scientific trends, each of which is related to the other by the range of practical application of convoluted flows, have been formulated to date. Sufficient theoretical and experimental studies have also been conducted in the field of the hydromechanics of convoluted flows, which is associated with hydraulic engineering and hydraulic-machine building. They are classed among the same physical phenomenon; however, the specifics of its manifestation is extremely great, and this does not make it possible to utilize completely and directly results obtained in other trends.
