The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has "welcomed" a report by the Environment Agency that criticizes some of its assumptions about plans for nuclear waste storage. The Environment Agency's report "The longevity of intermediate-level radioactive waste packages for geological disposal" produced under an agreement with Nirex (now part of the NDA) sets out its view on Nirex's work on issues related to storing nuclear waste underground in a geological store. In particular, it sets out concerns to do with the assumptions related to nuclear waste container lifetime and stability.
