By government decree Energywatch is to be abolished on September 30 2008. Under The Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress (CEARA) Act 2007, part of the Energywatch role has been taken over by a new body Consumer Focus in concert with Consumer Direct and a statutory ombudsman scheme. In the following article Allan Asher reviews the successes and unfinished business of a short-lived consumer friend.
