Firmus Energy is seeking to sell electricity to retail customers in Northern Ireland. Earlier this month, the Antrim based company, part of Irish utility Bord Gais Eireann, applied to the Northern Ireland regulator for a license to sell electricity in Northern Ireland. Firmus Energy currently sells gas to domestic and industrial and commercial customers in a number of towns in Northern Ireland. Currently, the company has a license to supply gas to customers in 10 towns in Northern Ireland, including Derry/Londonderry, Ballymena, Craigavon, Antrim and Coleraine. It also has a separate supply license to supply gas to the Greater Belfast area. Business development manager Michael Scott told Platts that the company's plans to expand into the electricity market are at an early stage.
