Just 12 months ago, the prospects for boosting cogeneration in the UK looked pretty bleak. The government's attention seemed to be focused on getting new nuclear build on the way and it seemed unconcerned that there was little chance of reaching the UK's target of 10 GW of cogeneration plant by 2010. How quickly things change - as the numbers attending the Combined Heat and Power Association's conference demonstrated this month. Not since the halcyon days of the early 1990s has there been so much interest in cogeneration. What has prompted this seismic shift? One word - heat.
