In September, some of Britain's biggest environment groups took the decision to withdraw from the UK Government's public consultation on nuclear power, calling it a sham. The move by Greenpeace, the Green Alliance, WWF, Friends of the Earth and CND was one born of frustration after it became apparent the consultation was nothing more than a rubber stamping exercise designed to push through the Prime Minister's preordained policy on nuclear energy. It does not provide fair or balanced information and fails to fully consider the alternatives to nuclear power.
