Earlier this year, the National Audit Office released a report examining the weaknesses of Renewables Obligation and flagging up its high cost. Some believe that this, and its other conclusions, will feed into this year's RO review which, in turn, may result in a wider government rethink on how to achieve carbon emission reductions. However, some experts believe that the government should proceed with care when, and if, it reviews its energy policy in the light of the NAO report.
