Eon UK's CEO Dr Paul Golby has called for a cap to be put on the cost of carbon and for the transport sector to be included in the second phase of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). Speaking at the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Business and Climate conference this month, Golby urged that contingency measures be put in place to ensure that external factors do not adversely affect the trading scheme by pushing emissions prices to levels where government might be forced to intervene to protect the economy.
