摘要

A large number of planning and scoping applications for windfarms have flooded in over the last few weeks. Scottish and Southern (SSE) seems to be leading the pack. It has just submitted a Section 36 application for a 130MW windfarm at Waterhead Moor (previously known as Inverclyde). Waterhead Moor is close to Largs, Ayrshire. The application is being submitted in advance of the completion of the accompanying environmental statement, which will be prepared in the first half of next year. SSE also intends to hold public information events in the first few months of 2005 to let local people see for themselves the detail of the plans. SSE has also admitted to its interest in a number of other projects that it has previously kept under wraps. SSE is looking to build a 226MW windfarm at Strathy. The project is to be located in Sutherland within existing commercial forestry. Environmental survey works are ongoing and a Section 36 application is expected in early 2006. The project could be up and running by 2007.
