Last november, two months into the occupation of New York's financial district, a special edition of The Occupied Wall Street Journal, the protesters' free broadsheet, appeared in Zuccotti Park. A series of inventive posters, it was the work of Occuprint, a Brooklyn-based collective of artists, educators, and other volunteers.Since then, they've screen-printed posters and ephemera at a workshop in Bushwick, doing larger runs at an offset press in Queens.For the OWS movement's May l general strike, Occuprint produced a variety of materials, including a new broadsheet. With larger efforts like this one, they're not trying to create visual unity so much as providing a platform, says Jesse Goldstein, one of Occuprint's seven core members. "While we put great effort into choosing the images we use, we are less worried about them all being of a certain style and more interested in each working in its own register."
