摘要

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)-strokes involving cerebral aneurysms that rupture and release blood onto the brain surface-are associated with high rates of death and disability. The cellular events contributing to ischemic neurological damage following SAH remain unknown (1). Here, we report that subarachnoid blood profoundly impacts communication within the neurovascular unit (neurons, astrocytes, and arterioles) causing pathological vasoconstriction of intracerebral (parenchymal) arterioles.
