摘要

Mammals are protected during early development by maternal immunity, but how fish larvae are protected from infection before the maturation of adaptive immunity is unknown. We show here that colonization by commensals in newly hatched zebrafish primes neutrophils and induces expression of genes encoding proinflammatory and antiviral mediators. This process is mediated by the Toll-like receptor (TLR)/MyD88 signaling pathway.
