摘要

Multiflagellated protozoan Giardia lamblia causes one of the most common protozoal gastrointestinal diseases in the world-giardiasis. In addition to its importance to human health, Giardia has long fascinated cell biologists for its unique cyto-skeleton and lack of key eukaryotic organelles, including mitochondria, peroxisomes, and golgi. Despite over 250 years of study, many questions remain about how Giardia trophozoites, the vegetative form of the parasite, use their cytoskeletal components to navigate the complex environment of the small intestine.
