Researchers have previously reported that an online, multiplayer computer game called Foldit could successfully combine people's problem-solving skills with the data processing capabilities of computers to accurately solve protein structure puzzles. Firas Khatib et al. (pp. 18949-18953) report that they have used a similar human-computer collaboration to create protein structure-predicting algorithms.
