The purpose of this paper is to propose new graphite-based lubricant including boric acid for mandrel-bar lubricant in seamless pipe hot rolling. The lubricant needs to show an excellent lubricity during the continuous multi-stand rolling and bar stripping for mandrel mill rolling. The following became clear after a high-temperature sliding friction test and a hot rolling test were carried out. When boric acid is added to graphite-based lubricant, boric acid surrounds the surface of the graphite particle.
