ASSE began in 1911 in New York, NY, with 62 members. Today, it is a global organization with more than 37,000 members in more than 80 countries working to advance the OSH profession across the globe. To support this growth and reinforce the Society's vision "to be a global advocate and premier leader for the safety, health and environmental professional and the profession," ASSE has formed a new Global Region and a new Global Regional Vice President position, designed to represent and service the Society's global chapters and their members. This leadership position is the first of its kind for ASSE and will bring a firsthand global perspective to the Council on Region Affairs.
