Professional Safety recently talked with Brian Hammer, M.P.A., Chair of ASSE's Food and Agribusiness Branch, about the group's name change and goals. Hammer is a senior transportation consultant with Nationwide Agribusiness. PS: Who should belong to ASSE's Food and Agribusiness Branch? Brian: Over the past year, we have broadened the branch's focus to encompass food, fiber and fuel. In addition, by moving to the Manufacturing Practice Specialty, those involved in food production, farm implement manufacturing and agricultural-based industries can now more easily participate. Look at the Fortune 100 companies and see how many are based in either food production or agribusiness and you can see why this branch is important to ASSE's overall mission. This branch is for anyone who is involved in producing food, fiber and fuel-whether you are in production agriculture, manufacture agricultural products, or work in a grain facility, ethanol plant or food-producing facility, the branch has something to offer.
