Floods are the most common natural disaster in the U.S., and the average business flood claim was $75,000 from 2007 to 2011 (NFIP, 2012). 3. Even homeowners and businesses outside of high-risk areas are affected. Each year, they receive more than $200 million in flood disaster assistance.
