Perdue Farms' facility in Dillon, SC, has been recognized by South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR), and South Carolina OSHA for reaching 3 million workhours without lost-time injury. In addition, the facility reduced its injury and illness incidence rate by 40% from 2010-11 and achieved a total recordable incident rate 75% better than the state's average industry rate for the same period."Less than 1% of employers in the state reach 1 million safe workhours, so reaching 3 million hours is outstanding," says South Carolina LLR's Catherine Templeton. "Perdue obviously recognizes that workplace safety is a full-time job." Perdue Chair Jim Perdue says that the Dillion workers shoukTbe proud of their achievement. "It is each individual's commitment to work safely for themselves, their coworkers and for their families that creates a safe work environment for everyone," according to Perdue.
