The Council on Jobs and Competitiveness is a recent U.S. government initiative that aims to double the number of engineering internships during 2012. The initiative includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers, American Chemistry Council, Business Council, Business Roundtable and ANSI-member organizations such as Caterpillar Inc., DuPont and General Electric. The coalition has committed to offer twice as many internships to help foster job creation, economic growth and competitiveness.
