Which do you say? Soda or pop? Or, Coke, for that matter? It's a debatable question and a personal preference, but Alan McConcie attempts to find out who is using which term to describe the carbonated beverage. On his website, McConcie sorts the data by regional areas. He conducted an online survey that asked people which term-soda, pop, Coke or other-is used by most of their hometown popula- tion. His data concluded that people in the Midwest, Great Plains and Pacific Northwest say "pop," Californians and the Northeast say "soda," and Southerners are more prone to say "Coke," even wnen it is a clear, carbonated beverage.
