During my term as ASSE president, I challenged ASSE members to consider the possibilities for an ever-expanding commitment to grow this Society in the context of a global profession. We pursued many of these possibilities in FY08, achieved many of our goals and, as a result, we individually and collectively learned and progressed. This past year also saw a motion by elected Society leaders to increase annual dues-which have not increased since 1999. Your leaders recognized that cost inflation has eroded any opportunities to respond to the changing global SH&E profession and to develop new products and services. The $29 dues increase was later voted down-by a narrow margin-by the House of Delegates. In his letter on page 3 of this annual report, Vice President of Finance Darryl Hill further details our financial performance during this fiscal year.
