In its final rule, OSHA announced that it will delay the date for crane operator certification until Nov. 10, 2018. After this date, employers in the construction industry are required to have certification for crane operators, according to OSHA. This delay was put into effect on the recommendation of OSHA's Advisory Committee on Con-struction Safety and Health (ACCSH). The rule is intended to ensure the competency of crane operators involved in construction projects, according to the final rule dated Nov. 9, 2017. Origi-nally, OSHA issued its final rule on cranes and derricks in 2010, however after stakeholders expressed concerns regarding certification requirements, a different final rule was released in September 2014.
