The number of workplace injuries and fatalities remain unacceptably high. Proximity warning systems can enhance the effectiveness of holistic safety programs and help reduce the risk of struck-by and caught-in/between incidents by improving awareness and promoting collective participation in safety management. While proximity warning systems are an aid to safety management, these systems should be used in addition to established on-site safe working practices. Safety managers should continue to implement best practices and evaluate whether technologies such as proximity warning systems can provide additional protection for their workforce.
