摘要

To answer the growing need for using de-escalation techniques in light of increasing violence in healthcare settings, The Joint Commission has issued a safety advisory that summarizes several models and interventions for healthcare professionals and organizations."De-Escalation in Healthcare" includes techniques that healthcare professionals can apply to reduce aggression and agitation, minimize restraint or seclusion, and prevent violence or harm to staff. The advisory also recommends safety actions for healthcare organizations, including:1. committing resources and time to educate staff on de-escalation techniques, and to audit interventions and environmental changes;2. using audits, such as the patient-staff conflict checklist, to inform practice;3. implementing workforce training on new techniques and interventions;4. incorporating use of assessment tools.
