Scott Brace was 15 when he and his father, a railroad building contractor, talked about someday performing the work Class Ⅰs were doing themselves. That was nearly 30 years ago, when "outsourcing" had yet to become a coined business term. Today, Brace, 43, is president of Railroad Service, the Minneapolis firm his father founded.
