We are constantly looking for better, more efficient and cost-effective ways to serve the customer. NS is engaged in several projects that touch on these areas. First, our LEADER project is destined for system-wide implementation. Fuel savings are large, and reducing variation in train handling reduces equipment maintenance and damage. Second, NS is engaged in various other technological areas dealing with our equipment fleets. To name a few, we are continuing to look at the use of GenSet locomotives. In addition to reduced fuel consumption, GenSets offer an avenue to recycle older locomotives into useful applications. Third, NS has been an industry leader in rolling out ECP (electronically controlled pneumatic) brakes. We will soon launch our sixth ECP-equipped train set. Because this technology has offered evidence of superiortrain handling and reduced maintenance, it is possible that this operation might be extended to more bulk commodity unit trains. Additionally, data collected from our operation of these trains suggest substantial fuel savings could be enjoyed from a reduction in use of dynamic braking.
