The property industry has a credibility problem - a problem RICS is attempting to tackle. Last week, it revealed plans to launch a review of valuation practices with the aim of ensuring surveyors remain "relevant and trusted" in the eyes of the public. Relevant and trusted. They are two very important words. No one likes paying for their lawyer or accountant, but people do tend to trust their advice. By contrast, they do not always trust surveyors, mainly because conflicts of interest are not managed as robustly as they are in other professions.
