In every analysis the analyst must maintain a very delicate balance between aiming at the patient's truth and triggering his fears of insanity. Thus, some veins were left unattended. The commentators were spot on, providing very thoughtful, respectful and pertinent feedback, touching on some of the crucial issues of my analysis with Daniel. Their comments have brought about some renewed thinking, especially regarding Daniel's death-anxiety, a dark shadow whose prevalence was hitherto disguised.
