摘要

This article presents some findings of a qualitative study focussing on the vulnerability and resilience of Eritrean children. Thirty in-depth-interviews conducted with Eritreans born in wartime revealed their development during and after the wars in their country. The analysis conducted according to the sequential traumatisation theory (Keilson, Becker) confirmed two aspects also relating to "developed" societies: 1. a lasting destructive effect of violence and deprivation experiences in childhood and 2. the significance of providing children with constructive support as early as possible. Elements of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programmes are being discussed to stimulate socio-political action.
