摘要

According to the editors Maler and Vincent, this volume places more emphasis on the application of economics to environmental policy issues in developing countries. The authors believe that environmental economics can play an especially important role in improving the welfare of developing countries. Environmental economists know more about institutional failures than do most economists, so the resources of their discipline should be especially valuable when directed towards the problems of poor countries. For this reason, they devoted several handbook chapters to focusing on developing country issues.
