In 1996 as a result of an European wide quotation 28 units of lowfloor city-trams were ordered from Bombardier. The vehicle was built fulfilling the requirements of Croydon's operator. The vehicle consists of two long carbodies, which are connected to a short intermediate car. Underneath a trailer bogie is mounted. The articulation is built as a quasi Jacobs solution. Underneath the longer carbodies there are the motorized bogies. Except for the areas above the motorised bogies the whole car is of lowfloor kind (400 mm above TOR and 350 mm at vestibules). Between low and medium floor there exists a lateral step of 180 mm height. 76% of the whole passenger's compartment is of low floor manner.
