摘要

Public transport in the Netherlands has changed a great deal. Superxisory staff keep a lookout on metro stations. The conductor has returned to the trams in Amsterdam after a long absence. Guards give on the spot information to passengers making inquiries. Tickets are checked more frequently. Some buses also have cameras. Dutch Railways have issued new travel regulations: fare dodging is looked at more severely. It happens quite often now that two guards come along to check tickets in the train. Sometimes you have to show your ticket before you get in and after you get out. Stations, transfer points and entrance and exit routes are well lit, painted in bright colours and they have become easier to oversee. Evidence of vandalism is removed very quickly. New services are being provided such as door-to-door transport and 'combined day trip' tickets: travelling to town on public transport and coming home in a taxi. It must become socially safer to travel on public transport.
