The Mayr-Melnhof (MM) Group was able to carry forward the positive development since the beginning of the year and therefore to conclude the first half-year of 2018 with improved results compared with the first six months of 2017. Both MM divisions recorded high capacity utilisation. Sales increased by 1.8% to €1.17bn, with both divisions contributing. The operating profit of the group rose by around 12% compared to the previous year's period to €114.3m, while the net result was up by 16.4% to €83.7m. According to MM, drivers derived from the cartonboard division, which benefited in particular from higher average prices. The packaging division was able to grow further, but a sharp rise in input costs, especially for cartonboard, weighed on the result.
