For paper and packaging manufacturer Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG), 2017 yielded pronounced year-on-year growth in sales despite high costs of recovered paper and raw materials, and unfavourable exchange rates. The group also reports successful implementation of price hikes for paper as well as packaging in strong overall sales markets. SKG reports sales of €8.57bn (2016: €8.16bn). Operating earnings for the year amounted to €797m (€815m). SKG reports net profit of €423m (€458m) for last year.
