According to the bvdm economic barometer, the business climate within Germany's printing and media sectortooka turn forthe worse in July. The business climate index calculated by the bvdm decreased by a seasonally adjusted figure of 0.8 per cent compared with June from 99.0 to 98.2 points. The current seasonally adjusted index is 4.1 per cent lower than last year's level. In July, printing and media firms surveyed by the ifo Institut rated their current business situation as only slightly worse than in June. However, companies are much more pessimistic than in June about the business outlook. The current and forecast business situation feed into the trend in the business climate, which is a good lead indicator for production in the printing and media industry.
