Paper producers have come under pressure due to the changes affecting raw material markets and logistics, such as limited availability and high prices. As a result, paper plants feel an extraordinary cost burden that cannot be sufficiently offset by the latest increase in paper prices either. German publication paper producer Kabel Premium Pulp & Paper now responded to the rise in production costs by imposing a separate surcharge of €60/t for coated mechanical reels and €30/t for coated mechanical sheet paper. According to Kabel Paper, the surcharge concerns all contracted and non-contracted paper deliveries. The short-term and temporary lump-sum applies in all markets and to all of the paper mill's graphic products from 1 August 2021 and will be charged independent of and in addition to the price increase for delivery agreements as of July 2021. The company said that the raw material surcharge would be shown separately on the invoice and be reduced or eliminated as soon as the costs went down again.
