Sappi Fine Paper Europe has announced plans to invest a total of €25m in its mills in Lanaken/Bel-gium and Kirkniemi/Finland. Accordding to Sappi, the two investments support the company's"drive for efficiency and profitability". All modernisation measures are expected to be completed by the end of the year. At the Lanaken mill, Sappi will replace the existing coating unit on PM 7 with a new film-press coater. The replacement also involves modifications to the drying system and coating preparation.The changes would allow for the first coating to have more weight, and would enable PM 7 to produce Sappi's entire portfolio of coated wood-free grades, the company informed.
