Arctic Paper is continuing its profit improvement programme it adopted in July 2015. On 19 January, the group announced that its Swedish subsidiary Grycksbo has started negotiations with worker representatives on the possibility of reducing fixed costs and increasing the fine paper mill's efficiency. Negotiations included the potential reduction of 40 of its total 400 positions at the Grycksbo mill, the company said. The talks are expected to reach conclusion at the end of April. The job cuts applied to employees on fixed term contracts as well as to permanent employees, the company spokesperson explained. Arctic Paper planned to reduce the number of regular workers through natural fluctuation and a voluntary retirement programme where possible, he added. The profit improvement plan for Grycksbo involves reducing fixed costs by SEK12m, roughly equivalent to €1.3m, this year and by SEK25m (€2.6m) per year from 2017.
