The contract negotiations for standard newsprint in Germany have ended. It seems that paper producers and newspaper publishers have agreed on a €15/t price hike for coldset newsprint 45 g for deliveries in 2016. The traditional annual contracts are definitely still common, but suppliers report that more and more contracts allow for price changes at the half-year point or as of the fourth quarter. The downward price trend for recycled corrugated case material continued in April. In the middle of the month, it became clear that the decline was around €10/t. But the negotiations were not over in all cases. There was no change in cartonboard prices. In particular in the GD board segment, business is very inconsistent.
