Finiland's Metsa Group ended 2013 with another fall in sales revenues. Closures and restructuring projects depressed group sales by around 1 % in a year-on-year comparison to €4.93bn (2012: €5.00bn). However, higher sales volumes for board and white-top kraftliner and increases in pulp prices hoisted operating profits much higher from €242m to €342m. Adjusted for exceptional items, operating profits totalled €342m, with net profits standing at €189m.
