Several forest owners and pulpwood manufacturers in northern Spain introduced a boycott on deliveries to Spanish and Portuguese pulp producers on 21 April. The collective, representing 22 groups from Galicia and Asturias, says the protest is in reaction to the price reductions recently introduced by the region's pulpwood converters. This was reported in a statement given by Promagal, the association of wood producers in the region of Galicia. Promagal states that the action affects three facilities of ENCE, Portucel, and Altri. According to the information received, the three companies practically simultaneously announced reductions of €3.50/t on eucalyptus wood. Reports by the local media say that the suppliers and forest owners concerned suspect an agreement between the aforementioned buyers and are considering legal action.
