Following a relatively subdued year 2011, in which the total paper and paperboard output declined by 4% against the previous year, Finland's paper industry had little good news to share in 2012. According to the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF), total production of domestic paper and board mills in 2012 fell 5.6% to 10.69 million t compared to 2011.
