Manufacturers of recycled corrugated case material supplying to the German market are currently witnessing an unexpected boom. July and especially August are usually characterised by summer rebates and slower domestic demand. But this year, manufacturers report healthy operating loads and are confident that they will be able to raise prices by up to €50/t with effect from 1 August. Price hikes remain the principal issue also in the board segment. However, corrugated board an packaging producers feel there is no room for price adjustments since new capacities have come on stream on the market.
