Pulp and paper producer APRIL (Asia Pacific Resources Limited) decided to end its cooperation with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and therefore applied for the withdrawal of all FSC certificates. According to the FSC, the application does not specify any reasons for the desired measure. Greenpeace commented that the group probably wanted to act in anticipation of the FSC itself declaring its,,separation". At the end of May, Greenpeace, WWF Indonesia and the Rainforest Action Network jointly submitted an official complaint with the FSC and demanded the end of any contractual cooperation with APRIL. According to its own statements, the FSC was prepared to investigate the matter when on June 14 the pulp and paper producer's application was received.
