The tug-of-war to determine prices for publication paper in France was in full swing in mid-December, but no final results were yet available. It is clear that it will be difficult to implement a price increase given the relationship between capacity and demand. However, the first contracts for magazine paper are expected to be signed in December no matter how the price talks turn out. In other segments of the paper market - recycled corrugated case material, cartonboard and recovered paper- downward rather than upward price pressure was also the norm in December.
